After two years, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years as a Law Enforcement Specialist. In 1990, he was honorably discharged and accepted a position as a police officer with the Hinesville Police Department. Since that time, he has been a watch supervisor, D.A.R.E. Officer, Field Training Officer, Firearms and General Instructor. In 1997 he was assigned to the M.A.C.E. Drug Task Force where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the assistant commander of the unit. Bill left law enforcement briefly in 2004 to accept a position with CSX Transportation as a freight conductor. In 2005 he again felt the desire to be in law enforcement and when offered a position with Hinesville, he graciously accepted it.
