In January 2008, Cheri was appointed to the inaugural staff of the newly formed Johns Creek, GA Police Department, She is currently a Unit Commander overseeing Evidence, Warrant Administration, Records, Crime/Intel Analysts and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit for the Johns Creek Police Department where she also serves as the Accreditation and State Certification Manager.
